I am forever grateful for the experiences like this moment at sunrise when, confined to my bed with debilitating altitude sickness, and feeling like I was missing out, the sun “lit up” these little terracotta roofed houses on the hillside in Cuzco – my own private light show! It taught me to observe and seek out shapes and scenes like this, and has resulted in more roof-top paintings like “Haga Sophia” (Istanbul), “Darjeeling Tea House” (India), and more. I’m not sure the rooftop series is finished yet. I am sure there is more work to be done on this topic.
