About Rosy

Rosy is a passionate artist based in the beautiful Granite Belt region of South East Queensland. A graduate of the Brisbane Institute of Art’s Fine Arts program and Sophia College’s Artistic Therapies, she brings both skill and soul to her creative practice.

With over 20 years of formal study in painting and artistic expression—and a lifetime of informal exploration—Rosy has developed a distinctive style rooted in both technique and intuition. Her work has been showcased in several solo and group exhibitions, earning recognition in various art competitions.

A generous and lifelong learner, Rosy openly shares her time, knowledge, and skills with others. She believes that creativity is not just a talent, but a tool for healing, connection, and discovery. Soon, she will begin offering workshops designed to inspire and support fellow creatives—because none of us is ever too old to learn something new.

Artist Statement

Growing up on a small orchard in Stanthorpe during the 1960s, creativity was woven into the fabric of daily life. With my mother, grandmother, and aunt all gifted musicians, the home was filled with music and handmade joy. Every form of artistic expression was encouraged, and I explored many—piano, violin, dance, and especially singing.

But it was watercolour that truly captured my heart. It was my first visual medium and remains my most beloved. For me, painting and drawing are more than hobbies—they are healing practices, ways to centre myself, build resilience, and express the beauty I see and feel.

My aim—both in life and in art—is to embrace joyful simplicity. I paint to connect, to uplift, and to share the transformative power of creativity with others. As Hans Hofmann once said, “The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” That is what I strive for with every brushstroke.
