Materials & Class Sizes

In our experience, the best learning outcomes happen when all materials are supplied by us. This ensures consistency across the class and allows everyone to achieve the techniques being taught, using materials we know and trust.

While material lists can be provided, BYO supplies rarely produce the same results, as different brands and qualities can behave very differently. Using our materials also gives you the opportunity to try professional-quality products before deciding what you may wish to purchase for yourself.

To ensure personalised attention and a supportive learning environment, class sizes are capped at 10 participants so everyone receives individual guidance.

Colour Theory

Have you ever wondered why a yellow cushion can look dull or slightly grey against your sofa? Often, it comes down to temperature — a cool yellow placed beside a warm-toned couch can mute the effect. Not all colours (even those that seem similar) behave the same way.

In this class, you’ll discover just how much is possible with only a few tubes of paint. You’ll learn to truly see colour — with your eyes, not just your assumptions — and understand how colours interact with one another.

We explore colour mixing, blending, and practical colour theory in a hands-on, playful way. You’ll gain insight into warm and cool primaries, secondaries, and even those “dirty” tertiary blends that add depth and sophistication to a painting.

Colour planning is a major part of creating strong, confident artwork — and once you understand it, you’ll feel the difference immediately. You’ll leave with new skills, fresh confidence, and a finished piece you’ll be proud to frame.
